Philippi Study

€180.00

Two columns among the early Christian ruins at Philippi, each crowned with a cross.

I drew them on site, standing in front of them. Philippi was a Greek and Roman city long before it was a Christian one, and the crosses were cut into the capitals of columns that had been raised for other gods. Nobody replaced the stone, they simply marked it and carried on.

A study. Copic marker and ink on Canson Bristol, 21 × 29.7 cm. Drawn 24 May 2026. Approximately 4 hours of work. One of a kind — signed, with certificate of authenticity.
